#YearOfTheHorse – Andrea Moffatt, Horse and Rider

I had the pleasure of photographing Andrea Moffatt the Advertising Director of UK’s best-selling equestrian magazine Horse and Rider.

When I first met Andrea at Pachesham Equestrian Centre near Leatherhead, I was introduced to Blackie, her magnificent 17 year old gelding. Blackie won his Barefoot Rosette that day with a stunning performance in an Advanced dressage test.

Blackie was meant to retire this year from competition as he was constantly ‘footy’, but now that he is doing so well barefoot, thanks to Barefoot South, he is going from strength to strength and recently competed in his first PSG!

Andrea kindly agreed for me to take some more pictures of Blackie and herself near Guilford in Surrey where Blackie is stabled. It was a super sunny day and we had great fun during the equestrian photography shoot with different outfits in different settings. A few of the images taken on the day can be seen below. My favourite image of the day is the one of Andrea wearing her gorgeous dress. Days like this make my job so worthwhile.

Horse and Rider is available in print or you can subscribe to the digital version by visiting their website and take it with you wherever you go.

#YearOfTheHorse ~ HorseHouseUK

Hello February!

The person who inspired this year’s blog is Su Jeffery, a very remarkable lady who is the owner of HorseHouseUK, which may become a registered charity.

Meanwhile Su is currently renting paddocks and sand school to home four rescue horses based close to Oxted in Surrey.

Su is hoping for horse loving volunteers to help her look after Beau, Mae, Oroki and Grace. The horses are now all living happily as a herd at liberty. They would otherwise have had a very short or miserable life as overbred broodmares. Su’s aim is to extend by helping other horses in similar situations.

Please contact Su either by phone on 07595421077 or email horsehouseuk@gmail.com if you or someone you know would like to offer help with looking after the horses. Being around these very remarkable creatures is a privilege and a very calming experience.

As promised, my dog loving friends, I have included some pictures of “Joey”, a Jack Russell Terrier chasing his ball and keeping warm and “Piccalilli”, a Maltese Terrier enjoying herself with the horses.

Su has got other exiting plans for later on in the year, so watch this space!

Sneak Peek ~ Memphis & Bertie

As promised on my Facebook Business page last Saturday I would like to share a sneak peek of the gorgeous Jack Russel “Memphis” and the really sweet Doberman “Bertie” with you.

As Memphis and Bertie have got the same black and tan colours their owner is frequently asked if Memphis is from Berties litter!

Bertie is 8 years of age and has been operated on a few times. So the day of the shoot saw him off the lead in the park for the first time in a while. And he really loved it. I think you can see the joy twinkling in his eyes.

This particular Dog Portrait Photography shoot was a birthday present Gift Certificate. I started the session in the dogs home environment, then moved to their garden and then we went to a nearby park in Oxted.
